Miami Beach Women's Club
Newly restored historic venue in heart of Miami Beach. Perfect for Weddings, Rehearsal Dinners, Bridal showers, and more!
The Miami Beach Women’s Club is the city’s newest and most unique venue. Tucked into the intimately beautiful Collins Park neighborhood, the Club is no longer serving as a women's club but is a multi-purpose event space, with the capacity to host a wide variety of functions both indoor and outdoor. Its' original Miami Mediterranean style circa 1933 has been thoughtfully and beautifully renovated. Preserving the venue’s original historic charm and incorporating contemporary details, the Miami Beach Women’s Club is a versatile blank canvas boasting 3,500 square feet indoors and 2,500 square feet outdoors perfect for any occasion.
The Miami Beach Women's Club has a very rich history. In the wake of the devastating 1926 hurricane, some of Miami Beach’s most renowned and influential women established the Miami Beach Women’s Club with the intent of fostering neighborly friendship and community. Renowned novelist and founding President, Mrs. Elizabeth Sedgwick Cooper stated in her founding speech, “Let us be all inclusive, and know no North or South or East or West, nor caste, but include all in our friendships “.
The members originally met at the home of the founding president, but Miami Beach real estate promoter, Carl G. Fisher, so appreciated the women’s efforts to create a culturally rich atmosphere that in 1927 he donated a site to build a clubhouse. In 1933 ground was broken on the beautiful Mediterranean style venue.
The importance of the Women’s Club within the growing Miami Beach community is illustrated by one of their earliest endeavors, a ‘Book Shower’ which resulted in the donation of nearly 900 volumes and the creation of the Miami Beach Public Library in Collins Park.
Over the years the Women’s Club has persevered, and in 1974 was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Recently the Miami Beach Women’s Club re-opened after extensive renovations by the South Beach Group. The building now shines as one of the original examples of early Miami Beach, and features original elements such as the unique chandeliers, gorgeous over-sized Mediterranean entry doors, and vaulted beamed ceilings.
